Cuba cigars store

1) To buy at store:

the cigars in store are mostly originals, And I say mostly because sometimes the people that works on the stores introduce their own cigars boxes for earning money but generally the cigars are in good shape and if you buy more than 3 cigars boxes they can provide you a valid voucher for customs when you live the country. The bad side is the prices , the prices are high but always less expensive than outside cuba.

The best stores to buy cuban cigars in Havana are the follow:

1- La Casa del Habano 520, entre Dragones Barcelona, Habana Vieja, La Habana. It's at Partagas factory behind the Capitole.

2- Fabrica de Tabacos "La Corona" (code FR), 106 Agramonte entre Colon y Refugio, Habana Vieja, La Habana.

3- Casa de la quinta diez y seis (intersection of the 5th Ave and the 16th Street).
4- Tienda del tabaco El Corrojo at Melia Cohiba hotel.

5 - La Casa del Habano facing the Cuatros Palmas hotel in Varadero.

For pricing, it's not possible to give you all of the prices. You'll find some ratings for common cigars so you can extrapolate for the others. Prices may vary from one boutique to another and also depend on availability but the variation is never more than 20 USD

Bolivar Coronas Gigantes SBN 25$250
Cohiba Esplendidos Var 25$490
Hoyo des Dieux Cabinet 25$155
Partagas Serie D N'4 SBN 25$190
Punch Punch SBN 25$170
Hoyo Double Coronas ($154)
Punch Churchill ($143)
Hoyo Epicure Nº1 (SLB) ($109)
Cohiba Siglo III ($167)

Montecristo Especial Nº2 ($120)

2) To buy in the streets:

The combination of economic crisis, the influx of tourists, and the fact that it is now legal for Cubans to possess dollars has created what you might expect. People are hungry for dollars, and one way to get them is to sell illegal cigars to tourists. Many try to do so. They even hang out in front of legitimate stores in Havana, to tell you they can sell to you for much cheaper than what you will pay inside. It’s not only on the street; some times you can’t sit in an outdoor café, or even at a hotel bar without being approached. They are extremely persistent, and almost always begin by you offering Cohibas. say a curt "no" it seemed rude but they will understand that you don't want cigars or anything else.

If you want to buy cigars and you cannot afford the store prices we recommend you to ask to the owner of the casa particular where you are staying. For Sure you can find good cigars for reasonable prices but the person that sales the cigars should be recommended by someone you know well. The 95% of the sellers will tell you that his brother, sister, etc. "works in the factory" and they take of the cigars from there but that is the biggest lay in the world, because the cigars factory's has an extremely hard to bit security system and is almost impossible to take away cigars boxes. The most common thing is that they build the boxes in small private factories and they buy the seals and stamps from the factory that are much more easy to take off .According the quality of the small private factory is the quality of the cigars they will sell you.
